Thomas A. Carlins, PE, LC
Tom Carlins formed Carlins Consulting in 1995 to provide lighting design and
electrical engineering services to the building community. He is a 1978 graduate
of Penn State's Architectural Engineering Program and has been a registered electrical
Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania since 1982. He is also registered
in several other states. In 1999 he received his Lighting Certification (LC)
from the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP).
Tom is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America
(IESNA), the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), the National
Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) and the American Council of Engineering
Companies (ACEC). He has been active in the IESNA on both a local and national
level. Nationally, he has been a member of the Office Lighting Committee since
1998. Locally, he has been president of the IESNA Pittsburgh Chapter twice (1982-1983
and 1998-2000) and continues to remain active in the chapter.
Having been the principal on over 500 lighting and electrical projects, Tom
has experience in a wide variety of project types. His building experience includes
corporate offices and office buildings, commercial and retail space, churches
and religious buildings, restaurants, municipal and public buildings, research
buildings, hospitals, life care communities, correctional institutions and hospitality
facilities (hotel/motels). |
